Story:
The catastrophe, "Hammer of Eden", resulted in the loss of six billion lives and the flooding of 90% of the land. The New United Nations were formed to pursue peace on the ruined lands 14 years later. Keel is a boy living in a town called Yabitsu, an area which prospered due to the energy from the nuclear generator brought by the catastrophe. His next kin, Aoi, is the secretary general of the New United Nations. She views the catastrophe as an opportunity to create a new world in which nations can help one another overcome differences in races and religions. However, her efforts to realise that vision fail because of the unwillingness of the nations to change. Gould, a military officer, feels that the only way to make an order is through the military. Using Ulysses, a nuclear submarine, along with his crew, including Keel's brother Tean, Gould carries out a coup to declare war against the New United Nations in his attack on Yabitsu. (Source: ANN)
The brothers:

Keel: (one with the Shades)
Meet our bratty, spoiled, good for nothing, arrogant and lazy main character. Basically Keel grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth, that’s because he was raise by Defense Secretary Aoi when he was just 7 yrs old. He likes to gamble and screw around all day (talk about being immature). Secretly has a crush on Isla and very dependable towards her. But before hand it was shown in the late episodes that he lived with his parents and brother on the space satellite “freedom” which conducting serious data gathering to complete the map of the new world.
VA: Andrew Jenkins (english), Daisuke Sakaguchi (japanese)
Adjutant Teen Gould: (one wearing a military uniform)
Now Teen on the other hand is the calm and responsible type. He was found by Captain Gould when their shuttle crash landed and exploded (thus killing their mother) on the ocean. After then…Gould adopted him and treated him as his own. He and Keel got into a fight before they left freedom in some of the flash backs in the earlier epis which led to Keel having ill feelings towards him. He helped Isla delivered her baby on the assault of Yabitsu and helped his brother and Isla escaped to the Ulysees. He has troubles expressing his emotions and tends to bottle it inside of him in the process
VA: Daisuke Namikawa( japanese) , Cole Howard (english)
The Leaders at War:

Captain Gould:
The decisive and brave leader of the Ulysees. Once a member of the UN before and after the Hammer of Eden. Gould was one of the commanders of defense secretary Aoi, but due to a failed assassination attempt on his life he then hid himself for 10 yrs. only to resurface to prepare for war...a war that would bring peace back to the new world. Also....he was Teen's adopted father.
VA: Steve Olson (english), Takaya Hashi (japanese)
Defense Secretary Aoi:
The most powerful woman and the leader of the new UN of the new world. She strives for World peace and global equality. She was the one who adopted Keel and later revealed, was also the lover of captain Gould in the past. Although she a good leader....she had to sacrifice her responsibilities as a mother which explains why Keel acts cold towards knowing that she would throw all her responsibilities if she could just to be with him.
VA: Yoshiko Sakakibara( japanese), Elinor Holt (english)
Other Appearances:
Commander Josie Egenolph:
Sub-commander of the Ulysees. Very dedicated to her work and very straightforward. Looks up to Captain Gould as a father. Constantly disciplines Keel about the meaning of responsibility.
VA: Yoshiko Sakakibara( japanese),Elinor Holt (english)
Isla:

The ever dependable Isla. after she and keel was saved she started working on the ulysees by doing house choirs like laundry and stuff. She has a really nice personality and also a big bundle of joy.....that's right....she has a baby( WTH haha)
VA: Carol-Anne Day (english),Kyoko Hikami (japanese)
Captain Satoyama:
He was Gould's former friend and compatriot and the captain of the UN's flagship Teshio.
VA: Jim Sarantis (english)

Personal Note:
Nothing seems interesting to me...just your typical war flick drama story line....to tell you frankly i was too busy hating keel rather than watching the whole anime. i mean he was a jack a@# and he was very selfish and pig headed and i can go on and on....and why does he have to whine all the time honestly...i felt more sorry for the people around him especially Isla and another thing about her...why was she pregnant?! she's too young to be pregnant that was the only scene that caught me off-guard but enough with the nega comments the good thing about this story is the sacrifices we must make for the future of our children and i was especially fond of ep 8...gave me tears on Aoi's moment....i just felt sorry for her for adopting a stubborn boy. if it were me i'd give this a anime a normal rating...no offense to anyone but if you have something to say about it just watch the anime and give me call about your comment. The only thing that was good about this anime was the ED song called "Voice" love that song hehe
